The Practice was established in 1985 by the two Partners,   Dr Martin Lawton FRCVS and Dr Lynne Stoakes MRCVS,   both of whom had previously worked at other practices in Essex.

The practice premises (at No 12) were converted from a closed down butchers and have been extended over the years to cope with expansion.   Major refurbishment to extend the practice was completed in 2004,   combining the three buildings of 8, 10 and 12 Fitzilian Avenue.   This gave us a substantially increased waiting room (with disabled toilet facilities ) for the greater comfort of our Clients,   as well as more Consultation rooms and seperate Dog and Cat kennel rooms and exotic animal rooms,   imaging rooms,   laboratory,   pre-operative area and a large operating theatre.

The Practice strives to offer the highest of medical care for all pet animals including Dogs,   Cats,   Birds,   Rabbits,   Reptiles and all Exotic Animals.   We have a reputation of providing a very high standard of Veterinary Medicine,   dealing thoroughly and to the best of our ability with all conditions. We regularly receive referrals from other UK Veterinary Practices, particularly for Exotic animals and Ophthalmic cases

We are a training Centre for Veterinary Nurses and we are committed to the education of medical and nursing staff.   The nurses are the backbone of the practice.   They make sure that all the in-patients are maintained,   looked after and medicated as has been prescribed by the veterinarians.   They are responsible for assisting the veterinarians during anaesthetics,   surgery and during consultation hours.

Our receptionists are here to help you.   It is sometimes necessary for them to ask you for further details when you telephone.   This is to ensure that we can assist you as quickly as possible.   As you will see,   activity in reception is often hectic and your patience is appreciated.   The receptionists carry out their duties as directed by the Veterinarians,   so if you have any problems,   please bring them up with the Veterinarian.   Complaints should not be directed at the receptionists !
