Martin is on the RCVS Register as a recognised Specialist in Exotic Animal Medicine

Martin is on the RCVS Register as a recognised Advanced Practitioner in Veterinary Ophthalmology

Qualified from the Royal Veterinary College (University of London) in 1982.  He has been practicing Veterinary Ophthalmology and Exotic Animal Medicine since that time and has post graduate qualifications in both.   He is on the the BVA/KC/ISDS eye panel (one of 40 veterinarians in the country). Martin was made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine in recognition of his standing.

Martin is an international lecturer on exotic animal subjects and has published on most exotic animal topics. He has been involved in writing several text books on Exotic Animal subjects as Author and Editor. He is a APHA\ DEFRA Zoo Inspector.

Awards include the British Veterinary Zoological Society (BVZS) Parke Davies award in 1989 for Outstanding Contributions in the field of Veterinary Care of Reptiles and Amphibians;   British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) Melton Award in 1995 for Meritorious Contributions by a Veterinary Surgeon to Small Animal Practice;   and British Chelonia Group (BCG) Kay Gray Award in 1996 in Recognition of original and significant contributions towards the care and conservation of Chelonia. He is a past President of the British Veterinary Zoological Society and has been on the Fellowship Board of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
